Summary:

The Enterprise Core Services team is responsible for the foundational services used internally at Facebook. Each sub-team focuses on delivering highly-available services using well-known, industry standard solutions when practical. A primary goal of the team is to continue to evolve the deployment and management of these services to follow standard Facebook practices and ensure security and scalability. The services we manage include authentication and directory services, public key infrastructure, email, load balancing, and virtual desktop services, among others.

Required Skills:

  1. Build, scale, and secure internal application communications for both internal and external clients

  2. Build upon the Infrastructure as Code initiative within Enterprise Core Services

  3. Implement and improve processes where necessary

  4. Participate in org-wide incident review and remediation

  5. Leverage the scale and complexity of the larger facebook.com infrastructure to solve problems for our customers

  6. Be the final escalation point for issues related to load balancing and traffic proxying

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience

  2. Experience in load balancing technology including health check options and load distribution methods

  3. Production experience supporting, designing and deploying local, cluster and global load balancing, HTTP compression/caching, SSL/TLS acceleration and DNS

  4. Design and maintenance experience with web application deployments

  5. 8+ years system administration experience

  6. 6+ years experience working with Python

  7. 2+ years experience working with configuration management tools such as Chef

  8. 2+ years experience working with monitoring, metrics and alerting systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Ruby, Python, PHP experience
