Facebook Data Center Technician, Enterprise Engineering in Santa Clara, California

Summary:

Facebook is seeking Data Center Technician to join the Enterprise Engineering (EE) Infrastructure team to help build and maintain data center equipment supporting Facebook's incredible growth. Our group requires working cross-functionally with a number of organizations to ensure optimal operation and growth of our data center, network, compute, and storage resources. This position is full-time and based at our Santa Clara, CA Data center.

Required Skills:

  1. Rack, cable, and label data center equipment including network, server, and storage devices

  2. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair data center equipment

  3. Manage a queue of install and repair tickets, provide details of work performed

  4. Coordinate with partner teams for equipment receiving, RMAs, power, and cabling work for installs, upgrades, and decommissioning projects

  5. Participate in part-time on-call rotation

  6. Travel may be required for field installations

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or 3+ years of data center experience

  2. 3+ years of experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing network, server, and/or storage equipment in a data center environment

  3. Experience diagnosing and replacing equipment components including backplanes, motherboards, CPUs, drives, and other parts

  4. Experience using a web-based ticketing system to manage install and repair tasks

  5. Experience running Linux command line utilities for troubleshooting and diagnostics

  6. Able to lift and move a minimum of 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience configuring and upgrading firmware for network, server, and/or storage devices

  2. Familiarity with fiber and copper network cabling including IP and SAN deployments

  3. Experience testing and cleaning fibre optic components
