Facebook Technical Program Manager, Interaction Tracking in Redmond, Washington

Summary:

At Facebook Reality Labs, we’re developing the future of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). As a Technical Program Manager, your job will be figuring out what we need to do to build it and deliver it on schedule. You’ll be a critical member of a multi-disciplinary team building cutting-edge research prototypes and hardening them for production. Work alongside expert Computer Vision Researchers, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers and Software Engineers to deliver real-time 3D tracking technology for social interaction and human-computer interaction in VR and AR.

You will partner with internal teams, academic institutions, external partners, and vendors to help: define requirements and deliverables, schedule and track project progress, order and manage equipment, coordinate with other internal teams, schedule shared resources, and manage partner relationships. To be successful, you will be eliminating barriers to your team’s success, clearly communicating their work to all stakeholders and ensuring the big picture stays in focus while delving into the details on specific issues. Ideal team members are adaptable and resilient, eager to attack unfamiliar problems with curiosity and tenacity, and able to use a light touch to find ways to help the team be more efficient.

Required Skills:

  1. Partner with engineering management to help with overall technology and product development.

  2. Develop project schedules based on product requirements, technical challenges, and business needs.

  3. Manage communication within and between software, hardware, and computer vision teams.

  4. Work with teams to set milestones, communicate project statuses, and identify/address potential setbacks.

  5. Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and product development processes in a quickly-changing and dynamic environment.

  6. Coordinate and contribute to engineering deliverables including specifications and test plans.

  7. Ensure project documents are complete, current and available for staff and leadership review.

  8. Proactively identify technical, legal, procedural, logistical, and communication issues and drive creative solutions to fix them and manage risk.

  9. Identify resources needed and work closely with the team leads to maintain full visibility of multiple projects, ensuring resource gaps are addressed efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  2. 5+ years of experience as a program manager working in a cross-functional product development environment.

  3. Experience building, coordinating, and maintaining schedules across multiple teams, managing shared resources, and coordinating with a legal team on IP or similar issues.

  4. Experience understanding and communicate technical information to non-experts.

  5. Organizational and planning experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Hardware/software integration experience in a consumer electronics environment.

  2. Experience in program management in a computer vision or machine learning related product.
