Facebook Software Engineer - Graphics Compression Lead in Redmond, Washington
At FRL, we are developing the future of virtual and augmented reality. As a Graphics Software Engineer for Compression, you will work with a variety of teams as we determine how to best solve compression needs. We’re seeking veterans of the industry to be a part of our team in Redmond, WA. This full-time position requires experience creating and implementing solutions to compression problems.
Optimize encoding schemes for existing video compression algorithms.
Prototype domain specific image and video compression algorithms.
Work with perceptual science teams to evaluate these optimizations and prototypes.
Work with silicon architects toward ASIC development of custom algorithms.
5+ years industry experience.
3+ years experience currently developing in C++, including modern C++ features.
Working knowledge of image and video data compression algorithms.
Practical experience with data compression algorithms that requires tuning of existing technologies as well as developing novel, domain-specific algorithms.
Experience operating autonomously.
Interpersonal experience with experience collaborating and working across cross-functional teams.
Experience working with perceptual teams.
Experience working with hardware design teams.
Understanding of advanced display technologies and related processing.
Understanding of real-time computer graphics, including GPU hardware, modern APIs, and the graphics pipeline.
