As a Silicon Research Manager at Oculus Research, you will work with a world-class group of researchers, engineers and managers advancing the state of the art for multiple next generations of full custom and semi-custom mixed signal ICs to drive our industry-leading augmented reality systems.

This is a full-time position based in either our Redmond or Menlo Park office.

Required Skills:

  1. Your key responsibilities will include:

  2. Build and lead a team of work-class experts to support the execution of our research and product roadmaps

  3. Develop and own the roadmap to advance the current state of the art in silicon processes and circuit level silicon technologies to enable new frontiers in silicon processing power, power consumption and form factor

  4. Use your creativity and inventiveness to envision and lead the development of new silicon research areas to advance our organizational goals

  5. Become and remain fully aware of the key industry and academic players in this space and developing a clear understanding of their areas of research and/or development

  6. Build strong R&D partnerships with top academic and industry

  7. Collaborate closely with our internal silicon architecture and execution, computer vision and optical scientist teams to deliver on the 100X improvement on processing power and processor power consumption needed for our AR products

  8. Your team’s initial main focus areas will be as below:

  9. Silicon devices: Research and drive the state of the art device technologies in close partnerships with leading foundries, academia and industry. SubVt and nearVt silicon operation are of particular interest as well as FDSOI for FinFet substrates with dynamic FBB and RBB

  10. MEMS: Research and drive state of the art MEMS technology as applicable to our products, in close partnership with leading research institutes, academia and foundries around the world

  11. Packaging: Research and lead the advancement of the state of the art in silicon packaging technology including standard packaging, die stacking and advanced stacking interconnect. Chip on Glass/Flex/Board (COG, COF, COB)

  12. SRAM: Research and lead the advancement of the state of the art in developing next generation SRAM architectures and technologies for extreme low power operation in close partnership with academia, research institutes and industry

  13. Architecture: Research and lead the advancement of SOC architectures for extreme low power and precise minimal energy usage modeling, advanced Si power management, fine grain PVT-adaptive and dynamic voltage, frequency scaling, 3D architectures, stacking, coupling interconnect and TSV development

  14. In sensor and in memory computing

  15. Low power/area CNN/RNN compute

  16. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. PhD in EE, material or computer sciences or Physics areas or MS with equivalent experience

  2. 10+ years experience in R&D in one of the above and 2+ years experience leading a team of similar researchers

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Good understanding of silicon development methodology and flow (analog and digital)

  2. Good understanding of standard silicon low power techniques

  3. Experience working directly with Silicon foundries around the world

  4. Proven ability to establish close technical partnerships with academia, research institutes and industry

  5. Experience with post-silicon qualification, validation and characterization processes and deliverables

  6. Very data driven and detail oriented and capable of producing and presenting detailed technical reports

  7. Possess exemplary organizational, methodology and planning skills

  8. Communicate clearly in English
