We are currently seeking innovative Hardware Engineer with experience on opto-mechanical, optical and manufacturing technologies for near-to-eye display applications. This is a full-time position and requires masters level degree in optical engineering, physics, or similar, and experience with optical systems, high precision assembly technologies and characterization methods. Successful candidates must be comfortable working in a dynamic cross-functional team and exhibit excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Establish and lead the development of assembly and metrology technologies to enable validation of optical systems at prototype level quantities
Specify instruments and tools for optical measurements, active alignment, bonding, and quality control in component fabrication and system assembly
Work with vendors for development and qualification of tools and custom equipment, including statistical controls and methods
Work with optical design to create plans for component and system assembly and validation
Debug and root cause issues with assembled systems
Assess viability in terms of product requirements
Establish throughput and cycle time of all assembly and test station to maximize efficiency and robustness
Experience in developing manufacturing processes and methods for optical systems
Demonstrated experience in moving optical components and systems from design to high volume production
Hands-on experience in laboratory work in setting up optical, metrology and assembly systems
Knowledge in standard tools and methods for measurement and assembly system automation and control
Experience with designed experiments, process mapping and controls, and data analysis
Bachelors or higher degree in Mechanics, Optics or related field with experience in product development of optics or photonic systems
