Facebook Research Scientist, Acoustic Modeling (PhD University Grad) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania


Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) seeking an Acoustic Modeling Research Scientist to join our Facebook Reality Labs team in Pittsburgh. We are looking for researchers in machine learning and AI with strong software engineering skills. The Facebook Reality Labs(FRL) Pittsburgh team is focused on the next generation of Social VR systems that produce authentic interactions in VR. The team consists of researchers in machine learning researchers, computer vision researchers, and acoustics working with engineers and artists.

The ideal candidate will have research experience developing audio modeling systems using end-to-end machine learning approaches. Individuals in this role should be experts in time-series modeling, including generative modeling, neural networks, and machine learning, and have experience working on large quantities of data. The candidate will help Facebook conduct research that support naturally spoken input in more than 70 languages.

Required Skills:

  1. Optimizing acoustic model training procedures especially generative models for using large amounts of audio data in different languages.

  2. Work closely with speech recognition experts and researchers on implementing algorithms.

  3. Responsible for measuring and optimizing the quality of your own algorithms.

  4. Build integrated social VR systems and perform evaluations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently has or is in the process of obtaining Ph.D. in Computer Science, with specializations in Speech Recognition or Machine Learning.

  2. 2+ years experience with C/C++.

  3. 2+ years experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, PHP, and shell scripts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in speech synthesis.

  2. Fluency in at least 2 natural languages.

  3. Experience with CUDA.
