Facebook Postdoctoral Research Scientist, Computer Vision (PhD University Grad) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania


Oculus is a world leader in the design of virtual reality systems. We are currently seeking innovative researchers with a passion for technology to develop next generation near to 3D face and body reconstruction and tracking at our research location in Pittsburgh, PA. The focus of this role is on computer vision and machine learning with the primary responsibility being the design, modeling, and analysis of human motion. The position is a fixed term contract for 24 months and requires a PhD in computer science, robotics, computer engineering, or similar areas, and a strong background in modeling, analysis, and system building.

Required Skills:

  1. Plan and execute cutting-edge research to advance human behavior understanding.

  2. Develop new advanced technologies related to 3D reconstruction, tracking, detection, and photometric stereo.

  3. Collaborate with other researchers, engineers, and 3D artists to develop experiments and concepts that advance the entire project.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree and/or postdoctoral assignment in the field of computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, or related hard sciences field.

  2. 2+ years experience with a computer vision, specifically face, body, or hand tracking and detection.

  3. 1+ years experience with convolutional neural networks and recurrent neural networks.

  4. 2+ years experience with system building in C++, including systematic evaluation design.

  5. Proven track record of responsibilities and decision-making experience.

  6. Interpersonal experience - cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.

  7. Able to obtain work authorization in the US for a two-year period beginning in 2018.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with virtual reality research.

  2. Experience with real-time systems.

  3. Proven track record of achieving academic results, including papers at conferences such as CVPR, ECCV/ICCV, SIGGRAPH, NIPS, etc.
