Do you enjoy building technologies to help people learn and discover the world around them? On the Location Infra team at Facebook NYC, we build products that do just the power consumer and business products to connect people to each other and to businesses and events around them.

We are looking for candidates to join our Places Data team to build a competitive Places Data graph that powers consumer and ads products across Facebook and our family of apps. You will dive into the technologies that underlies these products and drive cross team collaborations to enable partner teams to realize more of their potential by leveraging our knowledge about businesses around the world.

Facebook is seeking a Manager for the Technical Program Management team with a strong technical background, platform experience and a great passion for the location industry. Managers of TPM will work with IC Technical Program Managers by guiding them to go deep on learning their teams’ systems and leveraging their technical knowledge to influence and drive cross-team projects and roadmaps. Location TPMs work horizontally to create long term value for Facebook by promoting the right technologies for productivity, stability, and growth.This is a full-time position based in New York, NY.

Required Skills:

  1. Responsible for people management of a team, providing performance reviews, continual feedback, coaching and career growth for direct reports.

  2. Manage cross-functional platform programs by working with development teams, business teams as well as external partners.

  3. Develop and manage end-to-end project plans and ensure on-time delivery.

  4. Communicate status and big picture to the project team and management.

  5. Provide hands-on program management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post implementation phases.

  6. Perform risk management and change management on projects.

  7. Provide day-to-day coordination and quality assurance for projects and tasks.

  8. Drive internal process improvements, remove gaps across multiple teams, and ensure teams are working on high impact projects that align with company mission and goals.

  9. Interface with Engineering, Data Science, Product Partnerships, and other Product teams for project requirements and scope.

  10. Ability to travel globally 10% and comfortable with remote manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Experience managing 4 direct reports at a minimum.

  2. Experience building a team through continual coaching and career growth opportunities.

  3. Two or more years of online advertising experience, five plus years experience as a Technical Program Manager, and two plus years experience as a People Manager.

  4. B.S. in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.

  5. Communication and interpersonal experience, including relationship building and collaboration within a cross-functional team.

  6. Organizational and coordination experience.

  7. Experience understanding product requirements and translating needs into plans.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Understanding of machine learning, the process of training classification models to develop annotation processes, managing the data collection (labeling live data and engineered data), and quality.
