Summary:

As a VR Product Engineer working within the Social VR team at Facebook, you will be involved in conceptualizing, building and scaling experiences for the next generation of the VR platform. The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with a games industry or other 3D interactive technology background and interest for virtual reality. You will be responsible for crafting the multiplayer world on which our Social VR experiences are built.

Required Skills:

  1. Build re-usable, efficient, cleanly-designed game modules to allow for easy prototyping of Social VR ideas

  2. Build highly efficient realtime visually appealing core components for Virtual Reality

  3. Implement application runtime systems of high value to the application and team as a whole

  4. Identify opportunities to share technology across teams

  5. Help optimize assets to ensure a high frame-rate while maintaining visual quality

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of experience working on shipped titles in the game industry

  2. 5+ years of work experience with real-time engines, such as Unity3D or Unreal

  3. Knowledge of game play scripting in C# and/or C++

  4. Direct experience building products that involve most of the following technologies: Realtime networked interactivity, 3D rendering and shaders, 3D application performance and quality tools and tech, 3D & 2D UI/UX frameworks

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of shaders or character systems (rigging, hair physics, IK)

  2. Experience shipping multiple 3D interactive products across various platforms

  3. Knowledge of systems for scalable gameplay (lower LOD assets, making VoIP work for many players)
