Facebook Search was started from a simple stack with English as the main supported language but over the years has expanded to most global languages and abstractions required to solve various local problems at a global scale. Better Engineering emphasizes upon how to build products in an efficient, performant, scalable, and robust way while empowering others to be more productive. We are looking for candidates that share our passion for tackling complexity head-on to help build tools and systems that can scale through multiple orders of magnitude. In this role, you will play a key role within the Search organization, helping teams plan and deliver tools and solutions to improve quality of overall engineering stack.

Product TPMs go through Engineering and Data Bootcamp and are expected to possess an overarching understanding of the whole system architecture (e.g. in the case of search it means understanding the core engineering systems and the data pipelines). Within search team we also conduct periodic bootcamps to go over all search specific engineering stacks and technologies. By being embedded in an Engineering team, a product TPM commits to learning the team's technology and to making it transparent to other teams. They make sure that dependent teams are not broken by changes, and that their team is not broken by upstream changes while clearly communicating requirements to the teams they depend on.

Required Skills:

  1. Articulate the technology, requirements, goals and milestones of your team.

  2. Be the thought leader for the team to drive the vision that can be tracked with simple metrics.

  3. Work as an ally between the infra, product and the ranking teams to ensure the smooth execution and adoption.

  4. Identify opportunities to make the existing ranking stack more efficient and easy to use.

  5. Reduce surprises and own progress reporting.

  6. Work with Product Management and Engineering teams to define your team's strategy.

  7. Ability to motivate and focus a large collaboration to reach challenging goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. B.S. in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.

  2. 4+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, or similar tech experience including 2+ years of program/product management experience.

  3. Experience motivating and focusing a collaboration to reach goals.

  4. Experience working at scale, and with 24x7 production operations.

  5. Interpersonal experience, as well as relationship building and collaboration within cross-functional teams.

  6. Analytical and problem-solving experience including working with large-scale systems.

  7. Demonstrated critical thinking experience.
