The Instagram Well-being team focuses on reducing negative and promoting positive experiences on Instagram, in addition to feeling cared for and supported when facing a negative or challenging experience on the platform. We build large-scale, complex systems, state-of-the-art Machine Learning, and operate an infrastructure to enable detection and remediation of content and behaviors that violate our Community Guidelines. As a TPM on Instagram Well-being, you will develop deep subject matter expertise in our integrity areas of work, then leverage your expertise as you work with a number of product, engineering, and operations teams to build experiences that ensure Instagram remains a safe, kind, and supportive community.
Technical Program Managers are a group of passionate individuals who go deep on learning their teams’ systems, then leverage this technical knowledge to influence and drive cross-team projects and roadmaps. TPMs work horizontally to create long term value for Instagram by promoting the right technologies for productivity, stability, and growth. Well-being TPM's are expected to have an understanding of the safety, security, and wellbeing of the community, as well as the systems that enable this ecosystem. The right candidate will be an excellent communicator, knowledgeable in mobile product development, passionate about the wellbeing of the community, excited to collaborate, and focused on advancing Instagram engineering and products. This is a constantly evolving space, and the TPM is expected to be flexible and pivot based on the problems we are trying to solve.
This is a full-time position based in our office in Menlo Park, CA.
Articulate the technology, requirements, goals and milestones of Well-being initiatives
Drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions, remove roadblocks, and deliver on high impact projects that align with the company mission and goals
Develop programs to measure the efficacy of engineering, machine learning, and content classification efforts
Develop and manage cross-functional programs in a matrix organization covering a range of areas
Facilitate relationships across teams at Instagram and Facebook to manage dependencies and maximize resources
Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to define roadmap and long-term strategy for the Well-being organization
Roadmap and communicate program updates, risks and new opportunities to leaders and stakeholders
Identify dependencies and perform risk/change management on projects
Drive accountability and ownership in a fast-paced environment through project planning and interpersonal skills
B.S. in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
2+ years of technical program management experience, systems or software engineering experience
Experience working with technical engineering teams, designers, cross-functional teams and senior management to build and deliver products
Communication, coordination, and organizational experience
Interpersonal and leadership experience, including relationship building and collaboration within a cross-functional team and collaborating to reach goals
Analytical and problem-solving experience to large-scale systems and experience writing code
Experience in using technology to detect and action online integrity related issues
Ability to get things done in a fast-paced environment that spans multiple offices
Self-motivated, proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
