Facebook is seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM), Data Center Networking, with prior experience in designing, procuring, and deploying data center networking technology in an infrastructure industry/environment supporting commercial/technical procurement and managing network program/project activities for new builds and upgrades to ensure seamless connectivity to new and existing optical infrastructure. The projects will support the Network Engineering organization with overall responsibilities including end-to-end network connectivity between and within Facebook's global Data Centers (DCs). This is a full-time position based in Menlo Park, CA and will report to the Director, Technical Program Manager with synchronous coordination with Network Engineering TPMs in Facebook located in other regions. The TPM will also assist with connecting the data center IP projects and evolution of our data center network designs and implementation.

Required Skills:

  1. Manage cross-functional site infrastructure projects in a matrix organization covering a range of areas (data center, PoP, data center network & backbone network, hardware systems, capacity management).

  2. Develop and manage end-to-end project plans and ensure on-time delivery.

  3. Provide hands-on program management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post implementation phases.

  4. Perform risk management and change management on projects.

  5. Provide day-to-day coordination and quality assurance for projects and tasks.

  6. Manage dependencies and handoffs effectively and optimize schedules accordingly.

  7. Build quality control and quality assurance into project plans effectively.

  8. Ensure that lessons learned are captured comprehensively, acted on and communicated out for each project.

  9. Ensure consistency across projects, regions globally and alignment with other TPM's.

  10. Drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions.

  11. Interface with Engineering and business owners for project requirements and scope.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. B.S. in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.

  2. Seven plus years of Networking Design, Deployment, and Operational experience including three plus years experience as a Technical Program Manager.

  3. Experience with Project Management tools.

  4. Track record of delivering data center electrical, mechanical, and network cabling infrastructure.

  5. Experience working with a variety of data centers and network hardware vendors.

  6. Communication experience.

  7. Organizational and coordination experience.

  8. Interpersonal experience, including relationship building and collaboration within cross-functional team.

  9. Experience understanding application requirements and translating needs into data center and network capacity plans.

  10. Hands-on experience with Network Deployments and Operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Web or Internet start-up environment and technical infrastructure management experience.

  2. PMP Certification (PMI).

  3. Experience with managing projects related to data center design, hardware design and capacity management.

  4. Experience in hardware life cycle management.

  5. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
