Join a team of artists and engineers who are passionate about creating a cutting-edge VR experience. The Social VR Team is seeking an experienced Technical Artist to help our content team. Technical Artists are generally responsible for the technical aspects of art asset development. This entails working closely with Art and Engineering to develop and support the asset pipeline, animation & rigging tools, animation rigs, real-time effects, and materials.
This position is full-time and based in Menlo Park.
Partner closely with the engineering and design teams to define and develop content in Unity, Unreal, VR Shell, and other graphic engines.
Design, manage and maintain the pipeline from artists and designers through to deployment.
Optimize content through enhancing performance and instructing the artists and designers on asset creation, modeling and texturing best practices.
Work closely with engineers to implement interactive objects and systems.
Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads.
Thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsible for maintaining assets from creation to shipping.
Ability to collaborate and iterate based on the team's needs.
Develop Maya tools and plug-ins for rigging and animation production.
Develop broad technical expertise to assist in a wide variety technical and artistic tasks.
5+ years experience with Maya Python/PyMEL, C++ API, PySide/PyQt.
5+ years of experience in game development or film as a Technical Artist.
Experience collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience communicating across team members including engineers and artists.
Knowledge of 3D modeling and asset creation packages like Maya, Houdini, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, ZBrush, Knald, Marmoset, Photoshop, etc.
Experience with game optimization techniques.
Content development experience, including shipping one or more titles.
Prior virtual reality experience.
Knowledge of emerging technologies.
Shader programming experience.
Experience working with UE4 and/or Unity.
