Summary:

Our Connectivity team seeks to connect billions more people to the internet by developing and deploying solutions for those who are not connected at all, or cannot affordably connect, to the internet. The Connectivity Sourcing Manager will act as the primary contact for product and services sourcing within the Facebook supply base, while developing new sources of supply as required. Sourced technologies and services will involve a range of communications systems, such as radio equipment, base station hardware, and consumer electronics. Working closely with partner ecosystem, engineering and related teams, the Connectivity Sourcing Manager will lead the commercial engagement with OEMs, contract manufacturers, system integrators and others for product development, prototype and pilot (field trials), deployment and production support.

The role requires experience with advanced technologies, joint development models, IP and licensing, international logistics, and the development of global commodity and supply chain strategies. This Sourcing Manager will enable Facebook to meet time-to-development/time-to-production goals, while managing total cost of ownership to a minimum, allowing for widespread adoption of connectivity solutions.

This position reports to the Manager, Facebook Connectivity Sourcing and is based at our Menlo Park, California office.

Required Skills:

  2. Partnering with stakeholders to understand connectivity objectives and supplier requirements.

  3. Analyzing spend.

  4. Identifying product and service availability and options.

  5. Developing a sourcing strategy.

  6. Negotiating and drafting contracts.

  7. Managing supplier quality and performance to contract.

  8. Rationalizing the supply base.

  9. Driving efficiency/productivity.

  10. Cost Modeling: Own and provide industry and actual unit and service cost data that feeds into total cost of ownership (TCO) and RFx, and continual improvement of supplier productivity.

  11. Technology Roadmap: Partner internally to conduct regular technology and product roadmap review meetings to ensure alignment between suppliers and Facebook needs.

  12. Competitive Benchmarking: Partner internally to identify supplier evaluation criteria and provide recommendations, and identify key benchmark suppliers through industry-standard means.

  13. RFx Services: Partner internally to develop clear third-party requirements to solve specific business and engineering needs, then own and drive to closure the supplier interface for all RFI, RFP and RFQ services.

  14. Contract Strategy and Execution: In partnership with Facebook Legal and business partners, drive contract closure, including developing a negotiation approach, fallback positions, and acceptable terms, and prepare legally binding and enforceable documents.

  15. Preferred Supplier Management: Identify, qualify and formalize which suppliers are Facebook preferred suppliers, and guide sourcing decisions and engagement to them.

  16. Productivity Management: Measure, report and action supplier and internal administrative productivity, and identify and drive supply chain automation opportunities.

  17. Supplier Performance Management: Identify measurement criteria and ensure supplier contractual adherence, research root cause of issues, and own/drive improved performance.

  18. Supply Chain Model: Ensure appropriate levels of strategy, definition and development to the supply chain (physical, financial and information flows) in the areas of design, source, make and deliver have been implemented to support released products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BA/BS or higher in technical or business related field of study.

  2. 7+ years of experience in Sourcing or Supply Chain Management.

  3. Experience with contract negotiations and drafting.

  4. Track record of internal stakeholder management.

  5. Knowledge of software system components and hardware development processes.

  6. Experience with proven methods to manage quality supplier delivery and performance management.

  7. Experience managing high-tech OEMs, contract manufacturers and/or system integrators.

  8. Knowledge of international logistics.

  9. Experience with communication and being analytical and results-focused.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with identifying and driving productivity/automation projects.
