Facebook Service Operations Engineer in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

The Service and Repair Team has the responsibility for evaluating technologies and developing solutions that allow Oculus to support products delivered to the market at scale. Oculus seeks a Service Operations Engineer focused on remanufacturing, factory setup and supplier qualification. We are looking for a slightly impatient individual willing to face down their fear of failure to accomplish bold things. The role of a Service Operations Engineer is complex and must be led by someone who is both technically proficient to work with the engineering design teams, but also experienced in supply chain and remanufacturing to bring that hardware process and technology into the mass production. Specific hardware development and manufacturing process bring up is required and the candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of FATP components and systems, understanding key factors in both the development, qualification, and manufacturing aspects of final products. Your role will be to act as the interface between the Oculus Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to implement and execute comprehensive service solutions for our products. This is a full-time position.

Required Skills:

  1. Drive repair qualification including factory yields, UPH, efficiency & utilization targets, product repair and rework-ability metrics

  2. Responsible for repair process development, device and sub-assembly traceability, and bounce reductions

  3. Drive DFx (Rework-ability, manufacturability, cost, poke-yoke) initiatives and conduct serviceability assessments including component usage analysis

  4. Collaborate with manufacturing test engineering and manufacturing partners to develop robust test stations and on-device calibrations

  5. Coordination of and travel to suppliers (foreign and domestic) to establish technical and manufacturing processes required during product development and volume manufacturing ramp

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS or MS degree in engineering or related field

  2. 6+ years of experience in repair manufacturing, production line qualifications in NPI & sustaining phase

  3. Knowledge in yield improvements, floor layout planning, line balancing and UPH planning

  4. Experience with two or more of the following manufacturing engineering aspects: fixture design and development, process engineering, manufacturing test development, returns analysis

  5. Experience with domestic and/or international tooling vendors and tooling related supply chain

  6. Knowledge of considerations of building hardware and tooling technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Knowledgeable of enclosure bonding techniques: glue dispensing, ultrasonic welding

  2. Experienced with water proofing MFG techniques, plasma and conformal coatings, PCB & Flex coatings

  3. Highly knowledgeable in conducting multi-factorial DOEs, ANOVA, and SPC methodology

  4. Experience with automation assembly and inspection tool development

  5. Strong ability & experience building cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization

  6. Can-do attitude with the ability to drive results, motivate, and instill a sense of urgency in others

  7. Ability to be in a leadership position and achieve results with minimal supervision
