For this position, we are looking for a Qualitative Researcher who can help us deeply understand people, their needs, beliefs, and aspirations within their social and cultural context. The person for this role would help the research team as well as multiple product teams to develop a thorough understanding of our users in-context, in order to guide the creation of products and technologies best suited to meet the needs of the people we serve. The ideal candidate for this role will have an extensive background conducting research in international markets.

Required Skills:

  1. Partner with a diverse team to identify research topics

  2. Design the strategy and methodology for ethnographic research relevant to the initiatives within Facebook research

  3. Generate insights that inspire design, improve the user experience, and help unlock the potential of Facebook

  4. Work cross-functionally with design, product management, content strategy, engineering, and marketing

  5. Understand the diverse cultural norms, needs, and perceptions present among these different communities

  6. Seek opportunities to translate and raise awareness of these factors among internal teams, particularly where they defy conventional understanding

  7. Deliver actionable research insights that make the Facebook user experience measurably better

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master's or Ph.D. in Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology or a related field

  2. 3+ years experience conducting ethnographic research

  3. Experience with qualitative and user-centered design methods

  4. Experience working with design and product teams
