Facebook Program Manager, Hardware Engineering in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

As the Hardware Engineering (HWE) organization continues to grow, we are placing increased focus on execution and our ability to scale to meet stakeholder demand. This role will accelerate our ability to scale. It will assist our engineering teams with important but secondary services such as documentation, revision control, helping employees prepare structured communications (presentations, papers, video), new HWE employee onboarding, employee recruiting & industry events, departmental communications, culture commitments etc. This role will enable our engineering teams to stay focused on creating world class hardware and ensure we do not lose momentum on the other important activities of our team.

This role will have to collaborate well with the engineering leaders across HWE, requiring strong organization, communication and logistics skills. This is a full-time position based in Menlo Park, CA with some possible travel.

Required Skills:

  1. Coordination of internal Open Compute Project (OCP) deliverables, communications for Facebook.

  2. Lead the Facebook portion of event planning for the annual US summit and periodic international summits, quarterly leadership sprints, engineering workshops, and associated activities.

  3. Serve as a primary point of contact to the OCP Foundation, for the above purposes.

  4. Create & maintain a documentation repository for HWE products & processes etc. This includes documentation submitted to the Open Compute Project.

  5. Create & maintain HWE training & development program(s).

  6. Assist engineering team with the creation and publication of technical white papers and presentations.

  7. Support HWE team in the preparation of engineering content for Quarterly Business Reviews with strategic supply chain partners.

  8. Facilitate the development of a department wide communications. departmental newsletter, cross-functional communications etc.

  9. Support HWE leadership with generation and delivery of various types of external and internal communications: including media coordination with internal Facebook teams, message development, announcements, etc.

  10. Support HWE engineering team recruiting events, including university and internship programs.

  11. Support HWE engineering leadership team with cultural activities such as new employee on-boarding, all hands & other employee events, departmental newsletter, cross-functional communications etc.

  12. Support HWE leadership and program managers responsible for diversity & engagement programs (including women, veteran, and minorities), to help boost visibility of these programs and support advocacy in hiring in HWE.

  13. Coordinate all HWE community affairs activities.

  14. Keep all web based content for HWE up to date & relevant to the intended audience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS degree in an engineering or technical domain or equivalent industry experience.

  2. 5+ years work experience in technical operational environment.

  3. Experience in web-based content management platform including creating and editing web content.

  4. Experience with the development and implementation of employee, industry and recruiting support programs.

  5. Experience supporting executive leadership with key communications.

  6. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and working autonomously.

  7. Experience with popular content production applications including: Keynote, PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite.

  8. Communication experience.

  9. Interpersonal experience including relationship building and collaboration within a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with the Open Compute Project’s (OCP) community, events, and content.

  2. Experience with corporate sustainability initiatives in the data center industry.

  3. Experience with community affairs work.

  4. Action-orientated with the ability to get things done and overcome obstacles.

  5. Experience building/running internship and rotational development programs.
