Summary:

Facebook is looking an analytical thinker with experience in Technology or Content Policy to join our Product Policy Team to cover new Consumer Products covering Video, Games, and Augmented/Virtual Reality products. The team's mission is to help Product and Operations teams create innovative approaches to product design and policy development.

In this role, you'll help shape the company's Product Policy approach for our the products and services we're building for the more than two billion people in our community. You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, and other cross-functional partners at the company to build safety into the products and services that we're developing and help shape Facebook's Policy vision in these areas. You'll also interact with local public policy teams, academics, and other stakeholders outside the company and will play a key role in influencing the development of standards and regulation for new technologies in our industry and the policy community at large.

The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter, a good team-player, and creative problem-solver that is able to switch easily between detailed work and high-level strategic thinking. Successful candidates will have experience in policy and/or policy enforcement and will be able to provide insights that will contribute to the shaping of product policies and product development. You should be passionate about the services we provide and the people that we serve in all global markets.

This is a full-time position located at our headquarters in Menlo Park, California.

Required Skills:

  1. Evaluate and provide policy guidance on new products and features.

  2. Work with software developers, designers, lawyers, product managers, and others to help interdisciplinary teams simultaneously address policy, legal, engineering, user interface, business, marketing and other privacy requirements.

  3. Serve as an effective voice for Facebook regarding Product Policy issues, including in external meetings and at conferences.

  4. Help articulate policy philosophy, launches, and changes to relevant parties, including management, operations, and other internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree in public policy, legal, political science or related field

  2. 3+ years of work experience in public policy, policy enforcement, or law, with an emphasis on technology

  3. Experience in Internet/social media/media content issues

  4. Experience with analytics and problem-solving

  5. Experience with consensus-building

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. JD, MPP, MBA, or technical degree

  2. Working familiarity with legislative frameworks

  3. Experience with messaging, telecommunications, video, or mobile applications
