You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional partners across the company to build privacy into the products and services that we're developing and shape Facebook's privacy vision in these areas. You'll serve as a subject matter expert for Facebook's global policy team on Facebook's consumer products and work with our teams to evaluate and respond to legislative and regulatory developments around privacy.
The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter, a good team player, and creative problem solver that is able to switch easily between detailed work and high-level strategic thinking. This candidate will be deeply familiar with consumer privacy, have a meaningful understanding of stakeholders and perspectives in the privacy community, and be able to use this understanding to promote privacy in Facebook's products and services, and to drive privacy improvements across our industry. You should be passionate about the services we provide and the people that we serve.
This is a full-time position located at our headquarters in Menlo Park, California.
Develop legislative and other policy frameworks for protecting privacy and promoting innovation
Respond to legislative and regulatory proposals concerning privacy, consumer protection and other technology issues
Represent Facebook in meetings with policymakers, regulators, consumer and civil liberties advocates, and other stakeholders
Identify policy trends of importance to the company
Articulate our policy positions in briefing papers, requests for comments, and internal policy meetings
Advise internal teams on public policy matters to help guide development of products and policies
6+ years of experience with privacy, data security, or technology policy issues (4+ years with advanced degree)
Experience counseling clients around privacy, data security, or policy issues and managing multiple business priorities
Experience prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects
JD or advanced technical degree
Experience with policy analysis and public presentation
Experience with counseling clients in the context of product or business development efforts
