Summary:

Every day we strive to provide best possible experience to our users that are now numbered in billions, and to make that possible, we have deployed an ultra-high capacity backbone network that spans the Globe. We are looking for a Manager for Network Planning to join our Backbone team to support the expansion of our global network. This is an ideal role for a Network Planner that wants to work on a purpose built and ever expending network that touches and changes lives of billions for the better every day.

Required Skills:

  1. Build and retain a world-class global network planning engineering team through mentorship, guidance and career development

  2. Work cross-functionally with highly technical software and network infrastructure teams, understand their goals, and create tools and visualizations to get the right data in the hands of teams to make decisions

  3. Align the team to execute new initiatives to optimize network usage

  4. Develop planning methodologies to increase reliability, stability, efficiency, and service agility of Facebook networks

  5. Work with Facebook's internal partners working with constraints of the network supply chain to deliver network capacity to minimize the risk

  6. Support the team in designing IP topology, taking into consideration physical path, resiliency availability, performance and cost

  7. Collaboration with engineering, finance, and sourcing functions to support network acquisitions strategies

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 3+ years experience leading and managing teams within a network engineering organization

  2. 3+ years of experience in planning in mission critical production environment

  3. Experience providing technical leadership and guidance

  4. Experience thinking strategically, being analytical and solving problems

  5. Knowledge of network topology and experience in building resiliency design

  6. Experience with network modeling tools such as: Cariden, WANDL, ARIA, OPNET, or other in-house tool

  7. Experience communicating across a global organization, including sourcing, engineering and program management

  8. BS or MS (in Engineering, Operations Research, computer related)
