Facebook Manager, Workforce Planning in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

Mission Control is the organization responsible for end-to-end workforce planning, technical onboarding and resource allocations for all technical departments at Facebook. This is a people manager opportunity for the Workforce Planning team within Mission Control. The manager will lead a team consisting of program managers who design, implement and continuously evolve the existing workforce planning processes for Facebook's technical organizations--engineering, product, infrastructure, and AR/VR.

This position will work closely with cross-functional teams and leaders, most frequently with Finance, Recruiting, and HR. This manager will be accountable to strategize, plan, and execute initiatives as it relates to Facebook's employee headcount growth globally, leaning heavily on the analytics and tooling arms of Mission Control. Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, the ability to influence at an executive level, and the ability to tell customized end-to-end headcount progress-to-goal and movement story will be critical for success.

This position will be located in Menlo Park, CA. The role will report directly to the Director of Mission Control.

Required Skills:

  1. Build a high performing team which includes hiring, mentoring and developing of the program managers

  2. Develop and maintain scalable organization with a well-documented roadmap, goals and objectives

  3. Identify and communicate risks and adjustments to the overall program

  4. Empower your team to define and document the end-to-end business processes currently used and identify where and how tooling solutions will aid with streamlining and scaling the process – optimization is key

  5. Help create and manage the vision and strategy to take the workforce plan to the next level of industry leadership

  6. Lead centralized change management processes, like the yearly headcount planning cycle, across all of Facebook's technical teams

  7. Ability to understand, collaborate and influence across cross-functional organizations

  8. Approximately 10-15% travel required

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS or MS degree in technical or related field

  2. 2+ years experience managing a team of employees

  3. Experience being a thought leader within the organization and someone who can help internal solution strategy globally and challenge others in the organization to change

  4. Analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational experience

  5. Experience in development of a team, and in personnel management and staffing

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. MBA

  2. 10+ years of experience in a tech organization

  3. Understanding of workforce planning & position management in a hypergrowth environment

  4. Deep appreciation for the customer mindset

  5. Proven ability to think customer-first

  6. Successful track record in building strategies and solutions to meet customer needs

  7. Enjoys “telling the story” to customers about what's happening in their workforce
