Facebook Lead Counsel, WhatsApp - Litigation and Regulatory in Menlo Park, California


This role is broad and could involve, among other things, regulatory, litigation, and intellectual property matters related to areas such as data protection, privacy, regulatory, consumer protection, and telecom matters, among other things. You must have flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and organizational needs. In addition, you must have the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, small but growing environment and work proactively with various teams, including the business, product management, engineering, finance, tax, and customer support teams. This is a full-time position based in WhatsApp's offices in Menlo Park, California and will report to WhatsApp's Director and Associate General Counsel responsible for Regulatory, Litigation, Intellectual Property and Law Enforcement.

Required Skills:

  1. Advise company in connection with regulatory and litigation matters.

  2. Manage a litigation portfolio, including litigation arising out of data protection, privacy, regulatory, consumer protection, and telecom matters.

  3. Work on projects in other areas, including areas involving unfamiliar subject matters.

  4. Work in fast-paced environment and provide advice under tight deadlines.

  5. Travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. degree and membership in at least one state bar.

  2. 5+ years of litigation experience, including prior in-house experience with Internet or technology companies and/or a law firm.

  3. Experience in at least one or more of the following areas: litigation or regulatory matters.

  4. Experience working with in-house clients and business partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience handling regulatory matters, including matters before European Data Protection Authorities.
