Facebook seeks a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as Lead Counsel, Information Security based either in Washington, DC, or Menlo Park, California. The position will be responsible for protecting our users and their data by counseling our physical and information security teams, and by building and maintaining relationships with private and public sector entities focusing on Internet safety and security. The position will provide counsel and guidance to Facebook's security teams during investigations, incident response, information sharing and threat mitigation, and work directly with business and engineering teams to design and implement innovative privacy and security solutions. This position is a full-time role located in Washington, DC, or Menlo Park, CA, and would entail frequent domestic and occasional international travel.

Required Skills:

  1. Work with Facebook's security teams and human resources to assess and mitigate insider threats

  2. Review and provide guidance on security plans such as ISO certifications

  3. Counsel teams in developing products with privacy and security by design

  4. Maintain and update security investigation guidelines

  5. Provide support and counsel during investigations to insure they are conducted and documented in an appropriate manner that minimizes risks and protects users' privacy

  6. Support efforts to constantly maintain and enhance Facebook's security posture

  7. Work with investigation teams to prevent spamming, fraud, malware, and other abuse types on the platform

  8. Support Facebook's Bug Bounty Program

  9. Support and oversee the Threat Exchange product and other industry information sharing efforts

  10. Travel within the United States and abroad

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BA/BS and JD degree

  2. 5+ years of experience working with law enforcement authorities

  3. 5+ years of experience working in the field of cybersecurity

  4. Knowledge and experience related to cybercrime and online investigations

  5. Experience investigating and/or prosecuting Internet safety and security matters

  6. Experience with US national security and cybercrime laws

  7. Experience in drafting and/or executing legal documents (e.g., civil and criminal subpoenas, court orders and search warrants)

  8. Experience working with data protection authorities, financial institutions, and Internet industry associations

  9. Experience working off hours and overtime, including the weekend and occasionally holidays, in order to support emergency matters and interact with globally based company employees

  10. Communication and presentation experience
