Building 8 brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. We have a clear mandate to ship products at scale. In particular, seemingly impossible products that define new categories and that advance Facebook's mission of connecting the world. The B8 team will apply DARPA-style breakthrough development at the intersection of ambitious science and product development. It will operate on aggressive, fixed timelines, with extensive use of partnerships in universities, small and large businesses.
Facebook's Building 8 team is looking for an Interaction Designer - Augmented Reality who will transform product requirements into user-focused and intuitive products and interfaces for augmented reality applications. You will work closely with our product managers, marketers, designers, strategists, analysts and other key stakeholders. Your tasks will include the creation of experience maps, user scenarios, mockups and flows for augmented reality applications. This is a full- time position based in our Menlo Park office.
Designing augmented reality user-experiences from low-fidelity sketches to high-fidelity pixel perfect mock-ups.
Staying abreast of AR UX trends and looking for creative ideas and inspiration in parallel products and creative fields.
Creating rapid prototypes to validate design concepts with stakeholders and customers.
Highly detailed communication of design principles plus direction, as well as design specifications to engineers.
Working with engineers and creatives to guide the realization of augmented reality applications.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in interaction design, 3D design, architecture, or related field.
5+ years of UX or interaction design experience for augmented reality, 3D graphics, entertainment, gaming, or other similar field.
Work portfolio that demonstrates systematic 3D and interactive design thinking as well as a knowledge of UI/UX best practices.
Experience recognizing and predicting use cases and user interaction, including happy path as well as edge and corner cases, and incorporate them into designs.
Communication experience (experience selling an idea).
Knowledge of information design/architecture, gestalt principles, and user psychology.
Experience managing time across projects and priorities, meeting agreed upon deadlines, and being accountable for work.
Experience in 3D design and animation, graphic design, motion graphics, digital art, knowledge to typography, color, layout, and materials/textures.
