Facebook is seeking a Hardware Engineer to join Storage Hardware Design team. Our storage hardware, which is deployed at various rapidly scaling Facebook data centers, provides the foundation for high-efficiency infrastructure upon which several innovative services are delivered. The Hardware Engineer will be an integral member of the Storage Hardware Electrical Design team, contributing towards PCB board design and test for storage hardware systems.

Required Skills:

  1. Define architecture and specifications for custom data center equipment.

  2. Engage vendors to ensure product meets specification.

  3. Review schematic and board diagrams.

  4. Bring up new board designs.

  5. Test designs for functionality and signal integrity.

  6. Engage mechanical and thermal teams to ensure proper component cooling in the data center.

  7. Engage software team to ensure application compatibility and performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.

  2. 2+ years of experience in hardware design and bring up of high-speed PCBs.

  3. 2+ years of experience with schematic design and PCB CAD programs.

  4. 2+ years of experience with high speed serial interfaces such as PCIe/SAS/SATA.

  5. 2+ years of experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Familiar with storage server architectures with HDD and/or SSDs.

  2. Knowledge of using Linux for testing.

  3. Knowledge of using Signal Integrity tools such as ADS, HSPICE, Sigrity, Ansoft HFSS.
