Summary:

Facebook is looking for a Director to lead its newly formed Data Leadership Team. The Data Leadership Team's mission is to drive innovation in the responsible, ethical and lawful use of data to deliver economic, social and individual value for all.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team that is tackling some of the biggest challenges, and exploring some of the most exciting opportunities, in how we utilize data to generate value for people and for society. You will lead the team in developing a number of leading existing initiatives, such as Facebook's Data for Good and Startup Garage programs, and identify and develop new initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a background in innovation or social entrepreneurship, ideally with a policy or corporate sustainability focus. You will be inquisitive and curious, but prepared to challenge conventional wisdom. You will have a proven track record of leadership, cross-functional collaboration and the ability to communicate to leadership clearly and concisely, and with conviction and integrity. You will also excel at building partnerships with external stakeholders and partners.

Most importantly, you must be passionate about ensuring that data is a benefit to individuals and to society, and you should be passionate about the services we provide and the people that we serve.

This is a full-time position located at our headquarters in Menlo Park, California.

Required Skills:

  1. Lead the development of existing Data Leadership initiatives to ensure they achieve their maximum potential.

  2. Develop the vision for the Data Leadership Team for the medium to long term, securing buy-in and support from leadership.

  3. Work cross-functionally with Policy, Product, Platform, Research, and Communications to ensure the Team's initiatives and programs achieve the Team's mission, and support Facebook in its mission.

  4. Drive execution of initiatives and ensure timely delivery and relentless focus on delivering on the Team's goals.

  5. Collaborate externally with key stakeholders, and articulate the mission and goals of Data Leadership.

  6. Act as a thought-leader within the industry and across a variety of fora that are involved in debating questions about data and its role in the economy and society.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors Degree in law, policy, communications, business, or other similar field

  2. 12+ years of work experience in innovation, social entrepreneurship or corporate sustainability or a related field

  3. Experience leading and managing teams

  4. Experience in technology, data, and data-related policy (including data protection and privacy)

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Advanced Degree, MBA, or Law Degree

  2. Experience working at a Tech Company

  3. Experience of entrepreneurship, particularly in a social context
