Summary:

Detection and Security Infrastructure is the engineering team responsible for protecting users and their data by working closely with teams across engineering, InfoSec, and many other partner teams (legal, policy, product). These challenges span the gamut of security and privacy. We keep your friends and family's data safe.

Required Skills:

  1. The team is looking for an Engineering Director for Data Protection with two primary responsibilities with related missions:

  2. Directly manage, grow, and support the Data Security Systems teams which build and support core infrastructure security mechanisms.

  3. Lead the User Data Protection program, one of the biggest and most important cross company engineering initiatives, the goal of which is to increase the protection of user data while enabling the company to continue moving fast involving driving projects across many different engineering, product, and business teams as this is a rapidly growing program.

  4. Scope:

  5. Directly manage and mentor the two (2) existing teams on Data Security Systems whose work is integrated with a similarly sized and co-located Production Engineering team.

  6. In the context of the User Data Protection program, drive efforts across 5+ other teams and 30+ engineers on work that directly impacts every Facebook employee.

  7. Sponsored by and accountable to management for execution and success of the program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Experience as a software engineer

  2. Leadership experience building software engineering teams and organizations

  3. Experience managing programs that require management team support and buy-in

  4. Experience in security or knowledge of how your teams interact with security
