Facebook Data Scientist - eDiscovery in Menlo Park, California

The perfect candidate will have a background in a quantitative or technical field, a perfectionist mentality, and will have excellent communication skills. You are focused on accuracy, a self-starter, and have demonstrated success in using analytics to drive understanding and to influence business decisions. This position is based full-time in our Menlo Park, CA office.

Required Skills:

  1. Pull ad hoc data from products across our entire company (Search, messages, Instagram, ads etc.) for use in legal matters

  2. Automate analyses and author pipelines via SQL and Python based ETL framework

  3. Build dashboards to bring your pipelines to life for non-technical partners

  4. Stay up to date on new structured data sources within the Company as they are developed and help non-technical partners understand the use and content of these sources

  5. Create and maintain internal documentation on pipelines, tools, data sets

  6. This is a highly collaborative and cross-functional role:

  7. Partner with lawyers across the Legal department to understand their data needs

  8. Partner with economic consultants to develop product and financial models

  9. Partner with data science teams to ensure accuracy of analyses

  10. Partner with infrastructure and data engineers to manage large data sets effectively

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 1+ years experience doing quantitative analysis

  2. SQL, Excel, and data analysis experience

  3. Python scripting experience

  4. Experience with distributed computing (Hive/Hadoop)

  5. Experience with Unix/Linux

  6. Experience initiating and driving projects to completion with minimal guidance

  7. Experience working cross-functionally and communicating technical content to audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. PHP scripting experience

  2. Experience working with non-technical partners
