Facebook Data Scientist, Building 8 in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

Building 8 brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. We have a clear mandate to ship products at scale. In particular, seemingly impossible products that define new categories that advance Facebook's mission of connecting the world. The B8 team will apply DARPA-style breakthrough development at the intersection of ambitious science and product development. It will operate on aggressive, fixed timelines, with extensive use of partnerships in universities, small and large businesses. The Product Launch Team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs and delivering them to market at scale.

Building 8 seeks a Data Scientist to support analysis and insights on consumer behavior by way of analyzing key e-commerce performance metrics and competitive trending. We are looking for a slightly impatient individual willing to face down their fear of failure to accomplish bold things. This is a full-time position based in our Menlo Park office.

Required Skills:

  1. Analyze e-commerce key performance metrics and competitive trending

  2. Provide business requirements and collaborate with internal teams on data capture strategy that will support advanced analysis and insights on consumer behavior

  3. Design and development of website, sales, and operational health reports/dashboards

  4. Automate analyses and build analytics data pipelines via SQL and python based ETL framework

  5. Perform ad-hoc and in-depth analyses and then reporting/presenting insights

  6. Design, administer, and analyze the results of A/B and multivariate tests for micro and macro conversion optimization

  7. Creating forecasts using operational and statistical tools and models

  8. Collaborate with internal teams on defining population segments to support personalized consumer experiences

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. MS/PhD Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Business, Engineering, Sociology or other quantitative fields

  2. 3+ years analytics experience in e-commerce, web analytics, digital marketing, operations research, and business consulting

  3. Experience in querying and manipulating raw data-sets for analysis

  4. Experience with SQL Hive, ETL, R, and Python

  5. Experience with statistical techniques including regression, heavy-tailed distributions, extreme values, factor analysis, experimental design, classification, and clustering

  6. Experience with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics (Omniture), or Facebook Analytics

  7. Experience structuring requirements and data for communication with multi-faceted teams
