The Core App Monetization (CAM) team builds the world's best, innovative monetization experiences that people, creators and advertisers love. Our team lives at the intersection of people and businesses. Our team determines how to blend the budgets of advertisers with the eyeballs of our users in a way that ensures the long-term value of Facebook. It is critical that we make decisions about how many ads to show, which ads to show, where and when to show them; all while optimizing for the experience of users and delivering high quality ads. An ideal fit for this role is a Data Scientist with extensive domain knowledge of auction theory and/or its implementation, a basic knowledge of machine learning/modeling experience, and a strong “what is under the hood?” thinking and craving for opening “black boxes”.

Required Skills:

  1. Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our users interact with both our consumer and business products

  2. Partner closely with Engineering, Product and User Research teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities. This is a very cross-functional role

  3. Lead the definition and implementation of ads quality metrics and user experience metrics

  4. Provide technical and thought leadership on designing, prototyping, implementing and automating complex analyses

  5. Partner with cross-functional teams to identify new opportunities requiring the use of modern analytical and modeling techniques

  6. Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to upper management in support of strategic decision-making

  7. Plan, and be able to conduct as needed, end-to-end analyses, from data requirement gathering, to data processing and modeling

  8. Own ongoing deliverables and communications

  9. Work with data engineers to architect, develop, and optimize data and modeling pipelines

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. MS degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, operations research, econometrics, computer science, applied mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, industrial engineering) or equivalent experience

  2. 10+ years experience doing quantitative analysis or statistical modeling

  3. Knowledge of at least one modeling framework (e.g., SciKit Learn, TensorFlow, SAS, R, MATLAB)

  4. Experience influencing product strategy through data-centric presentations (to product, business, and other stakeholders)

  5. Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: predictive modeling, machine learning, experimentation methods

  6. Experience extracting and manipulating large datasets

  7. Development experience in any scripting language (PHP, Python, Perl, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years experience leading technical teams

  2. Experience with distributed computing (Hive/Hadoop)
