Facebook seeks a highly-motivated and experienced professional to serve as its first eDiscovery Counsel. The position will report to Facebook's Director of Electronic Discovery Services. As a trusted member of the team, you will provide counsel and guidance on eDiscovery best practices to Facebook's global litigation, regulatory, and investigation teams.
The ideal candidate is a natural communicator who is capable of identifying risks and influencing stakeholders to align behind process improvements. You will have the opportunity to work with trusted partners to develop a review program that will optimize review and production quality and efficiency. You have great intellectual curiosity and a desire to invest time and energy into learning and growing as a subject matter expert. You have the ability to work proactively with teams to build consensus across the organization, including legal, IT and security. In addition, you have excellent judgment and are comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment with little to no direct involvement from leadership.
Apply eDiscovery subject matter expertise to meaningfully contribute to strategic planning and road map development.
Bring creative approaches to managing eDiscovery risk and resolving disputes.
Lead the development of a scalable review program and assist in the design and implementation of other eDiscovery templates, workflows and policies.
Adapt to different working styles to create successful collaborations with eDiscovery team members, case teams, outside counsel, and vendors.
Rapidly identify, analyze and address complicated issues, and distill that complexity into simple and concise communication to influence outcomes in cross-functional settings.
Assist with legal-vendor management and oversight, and legal-vendor diversity efforts.
J.D. degree and membership in at least one state bar
8+ years of work experience at a law firm or in-house with a focus on eDiscovery and litigation
Experience managing projects and supervising people
Experience coordinating with a variety of audiences, including legal, technical, and policy teams, and communicating across cross-functional partnerships
Technology company experience
Strategic thinker with analytical and problem-solving experience, particularly in situations that may not have clear solutions
Well-developed organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to think under pressure, both individually and in a team environment
