Summary:

Facebook is looking for a manager to lead our America Edge Network Deployment team. This team is responsible for deploying one of the world’s largest and complex networks. As a member of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to be involved in all aspects of networking at Facebook. This position is full-time and based in our headquarters in Menlo Park, CA.

Required Skills:

  1. Manage and lead a strong technical team responsible for deployment, configuration, and management of all edge network infrastructure for our North and South America region.

  2. Expected to be a hands-on manager with technical depth, vision, and ability to innovate.

  3. Collaborate with Program Managers, Procurement, Engineering, Installation teams and vendors to manage network deployment and operational activities.

  4. Manage site documentation, capacity planning, asset inventory, and hardware sparing functions at our data centers.

  5. Manage and improve global best practices and drive consistency across the regions.

  6. Manage relationships with site level and partner engineering teams.

  7. Responsible for recruiting, hiring and building the team as deemed necessary.

  8. Responsible for developing and building a career plan for each member to be successful.

  9. 10% to 30% of travel required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of experience managing a technical team, with 10+ years of experience supporting, deploying or designing networks.

  2. Technical and working experience and knowledge of routing, switching, internet protocols, and monitoring.

  3. Experience with process improvement and systems development, leveraging automation to streamline repetitive workflows.

  4. Communication experience and experience working in a global team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a technical field.

  2. Experience working in an Edge - CDN, Data Center and networking design and architecture.

  3. Experience configuring and troubleshooting IP routing/switching technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, and VRRP in a dual-stack IPv4/6 environment.

  4. Working knowledge of fiber-optic communications technology including CWDM and DWDM.

  5. Experience building and managing a team with enterprise and carrier class routing, switching, and optical transport platforms responsibilities.

  6. Understanding of data center design and operational best practices.

  7. Experience with Linux OS/networking.

  8. Experience working in a multi-vendor network environment.

  9. Knowledge of scripting.
