Facebook is looking for a Network Deployment Engineer responsible for the deployment and support of one of the world’s largest and complex networks. As a member of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to deploy, design and maintain network devices and be involved in all aspects of networking at Facebook.

Required Skills:

  1. Manage optical deployment vendors. Run all necessary meetings and day to day interaction and timeline, logistics and budget management. - run turnkey projects. Take over from eng and run field deployment.

  2. Define gaps and streamline deployment dependencies around inside plant readiness, ISP fiber extensions, OSP fiber readiness and engineering equipment design – test, turn up and activation. - basic understanding of fibre required.

  3. Create and/or review basic deployment packages including Engineering Design Packages (EDP), Scope of Works (SoW), Installation standards and Method of Procedures (MoP)

  4. Technical support to drive sub contract team for installation, network integration and engineering services on the optical and electrical transport solution for a variety of telecommunication customers.

  5. Collaborate with Program Managers, Procurement, Engineering, Installation teams and vendors to formalize the site design requirements and deployment plans

  6. Proactively contribute to documentation, automation and processes as they evolve

  7. Understand the overall needs of current and future ILA and POP infrastructure.

  8. Guide retrospective reviews of completed projects with teams to incorporate lessons learned into team’s future roadmaps & goals.

  9. Oversee documentation effort with technical writers to ensure key decisions are captured and all necessary documentation for support and troubleshooting are maintained. Document end-to-end business process (workflows) as they are defined throughout the program.

  10. Drive deployment activities as well as training for all teams and ensuring a smooth hand over to operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Be able to identify key metrics/measures that will be used to evaluate success and validate the business impact of the program.

  2. Ability to understand high level architecture for system dependencies and translate these into deployable solutions.

  3. Manage expectations of all interested parties – define clear program with key deliverable and milestone dates. Maintain deployment status reporting and provide frequent deployment updates. Identify, communicate and manage risks and adjustments to the overall program.

  4. Technical skills in telecommunication networks with focus in the optical and electrical transport networks including the DWDM, network infrastructures, IP Networking equipment, optical testing, optical measurement principles, WDM, experience with photonic layer.

  5. Understanding of Operations & Maintenance for the optical Transport Products

  6. Hands-on experience with basic optical communication equipment including optical amplifiers, coherent transponders and other WDM equipment

  7. Experience with the Optical network design, installation and maintenance for service providers or large enterprise networks

  8. Skilled with ArcGIS, Autodesk AutoCAD, KMZ utilized for design and construction of the fiber network.

  9. Network hardware platforms and architectures including Ciena, Infinera, Cisco WDM Equipment

  10. Field-based work in ILAs, POPs, DCs, carrier hotels, or Central Office environments

  11. Ability to work in a global team environment

  12. 10% to 30% of travel required
