Facebook is currently seeking an Executive Sous Chef to join our Culinary team based in London. The Executive Sous Chef is responsible for the leadership of the kitchen by managing and overseeing the activities of the entire kitchen. They will be directly supervising all kitchen personnel with the responsibility for hiring, training, and employee development, along with conducting performance evaluations and salary recommendations. They will be held accountable for the execution of the shift in sync with the Chef. The successful candidate will be required to promote constant harmony and positive, constructive communication with the café in order to move forward in establishing a pleasant workplace. This position is full-time, Monday - Friday.
Developing menus, planning, cooking, and managing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for employees daily
Using knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
Preparing and cooking a variety of foods and overseeing food quality through purchasing products, multi-cultural cuisine, vegan/vegetarian foods, etc
Maintaining high standards by establishing food specifications and adhering to those via recipes, portion control, presentation, and sanitation
Establishing, managing, and maintaining all vendor relationships
Supervising and assigning training for kitchen staff
Consulting with Facebook’s Catering/Event Coordinator on a weekly basis, as well as other departments as required
Other ad hoc duties as necessary.
Culinary school graduate
4-5+ years’ experience as a Sous Chef
Experience with international cuisine ideal - e.g. multiple outlets within a site, large hotel/resort or cruise ship
Strong financial acumen, with proven experience in menu planning and budget management
Confident communicator with the ability to stay calm and focused whilst under pressure
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and work with a sense of urgency
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Previous management experience preferred
Proven solid track record of success in previous assignments/operations.
