Facebook is looking for a strategic leader to manage our Policy Programs work in EMEA and spearhead partnerships that demonstrate the value of Facebook's platform to advance economic growth and social good, as well as build programs that address issue areas like privacy, false news, and controversial content. As part of Facebook’s Global Public Policy organization, the Programs team is responsible for designing, developing and launching global programs that leverage the extraordinary reach of Facebook to promote positive economic and social impact, and that help to proactively mitigate the biggest issues of the day.
We are looking for a candidate who can build a regional strategy and direct a high-performing team to execute on impactful programs across the Europe, Middle East & Africa region. You should have a clear understanding of the policy challenges Facebook faces and ambitious, strategic and creative ideas for how to address them. You must be able to work cross functionally with senior leaders across the company and help set our proactive policy agenda across the region.
You will be an enthusiastic and thoughtful manager, adept at understanding complex policy and reputation challenges and passionate about the mission of Facebook. You should be a true diplomat and adept at managing relationships both inside and outside of the company as well as an expert communicator.
This position is full time and based at our London Office.
Understand, identify and anticipate policy challenges affecting Facebook in key markets across EMEA and build proactive strategies
Lead conversations with local Public Policy teams and devise proactive strategies for addressing key issue areas and building relationships with policy makers, civil society and academics
Design complex international projects, including impact assessment and budgetary requirements across the region
Manage a team of programs managers who work with political bodies, policymakers and non-governmental organizations on technology policy issues
Engage and manage external consultants to deliver programming across the EMEA region
Represent Facebook in meetings with key stakeholders and with senior internal colleagues
Lead on and ensure consistency in approach to Facebook's policy issues across the region
Coordinate internal and external players across countries and time zones, keeping all informed of progress and deadlines
Significant experience in public policy, MBA or law degree preferred.
Experience working with political systems and institutions as well as policy, politics and communications
Experience with analytical and creative approach to policy issues, as well as cross functional team player
Ability to drive and manage multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously
Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully and creatively
Experience in people management and overseeing a large budget
Deep interest in technology and related policy issues
Willingness to travel
Passion for Facebook and its mission to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Fluency in English required, additional languages a plus
