Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking Network Engineers to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located at Annapolis Junction. Our teams support a wide range of systems and programs using DevOps and Agile best practices.


As a Network Engineer in a DevOps/Agile environment, you will be responsible for the network design through implementation, including the configuration, testing and installation of LAN, CAN, and WAN equipment. Our Network Engineers conduct analysis of telecommunications alternatives to support strategic modernization efforts and design enhancement and provide recommendations to program and customer stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include developing network diagrams and documentation, performing site surveys, configuring and testing network equipment, coordinating with system users/stakeholders for outages, and installing/activating circuits and network equipment. Work may be done independently or as part of a team.

Position may be filled at a higher level based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 Principal or a level 4 Sr Principal


Educational / Years of experience required:
• BS Degree in a STEM field is required. An additional 4 years of experience on projects with similar processes may be substituted in lieu of degree.


Core Competencies for a Principal Level:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
• 5+ Years of Experience in the planning, design, architecture, development, implementation and technical support of multi-platform, multi-system networks to encompass diagnosing network performance shortcomings and designing and implementing performance improvements.
• Experience provisioning and sustaining network infrastructures.
• Experience developing, operating, and managing networks required to operate in a secure PKI, IPSEC, or VPN enabled environments.
• Understanding of routing protocols, IPSEC tunneling, QOS, and able to implement traffic shaping and policing on the network
• Broad technical experience and knowledge of peer-to-peer distributed storage networks, peer-to-peer routing and application messaging frameworks.
• Experience with CISCO network equipment (e.g. 2800 series, 6509, 6513, 3825, 3750, 4900, ASR-1004 and 1006, etc.)

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
• 9+ Years of Experience in the planning, design, architecture, development, implementation and technical support of multi-platform, multi-system networks to encompass diagnosing network performance shortcomings and designing and implementing performance improvements.
• Experience provisioning and sustaining network infrastructures.
• Experience developing, operating, and managing networks required to operate in a secure PKI, IPSEC, or VPN enabled environments.
• Understanding of routing protocols, IPSEC tunneling, QOS, and able to implement traffic shaping and policing on the network
• Broad technical experience and knowledge of peer-to-peer distributed storage networks, peer-to-peer routing and application messaging frameworks.

Security Clearance Required:
• TS/SCI with Polygraph


Willingness to Support/Learn:
• Cisco certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCNP, CCNP Cloud, CCIE)
• DoD 8570 Cybersecurity certifications (e.g. Security+, CISSP)
• Understanding of cybersecurity best practices, trends, and tools. Experience with the NIST 800-53 Risk Management Framework (RMF) process and respective documentation.
• Technical expertise/knowledge of Cloud Engineering and Security, VMWare/virtualization, data flow engineering (e.g. NiFi), DevSecOps/DevOps, programming languages (e.g. Java, Python), Databases, and/or Network Engineering LAN/WAN/CAN administration, Linux.
• Knowledge of specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture or conducting testing of network design.
• Past experience/willingness to support technical proposal efforts.
• Experience with network equipment (Brocade, Cisco, Nexus, etc)
• Experience with encryptors (KG, etc)
