Marine Spill Response Corporation offering an excellent opportunity to become an Operations Responder who is ready to start their career with the leader in the oil spill response industry.
We are seeking full time skilled individuals who is capable or willing to learn to perform small vessel operations, mechanical maintenance, and provide support in all phases of oil spill response equipment operation, deployment, retrieval, cleaning and storage.
The Responder position is responsible for performing all phases of oil spill response equipment operation (deploys, operates, retrieves, cleans, and stores) and preventive and corrective maintenance, while maintaining a safe work environment. Responders work as members of an integrated team which requires strong communication and interpersonal skills.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION Ability to operate industrial equipment safely Must meet all work eligibility requirements Employment is contingent upon a successful background check, drug screen and pre-hire medical exam Responsibilities and on the Job Training Assist in various types of oil spill clean up activities as needed Deploying, retrieval, and processing of oil boom and sorbent materials in the marine environment Deployment, operation and retrieval of hydraulic driven oil skimmers in the marine environment Logistics support operating trucks and transporting trailers Develop a basic working knowledge of all equipment that is utilized in performing our work Operation of small boats including navigation equipment such as radar Maintain response equipment such as diesel hydraulic skimmers/pumps, outboard motors, trailer services, and troubleshoot electrical and/or pneumatic systems. Ability to operate equipment in accordance with all policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure safe and productive work experiences Complete and submit appropriate paper work and reports (manually and electronically) properly and timely as required including; time records, maintenance and safety reports Availability to report to the work site location within a 2 hour recall notice and work 14 days or more in the case of an oil spill or weather related activity Because of the emergency response and operational nature of the position, a continuing condition of employment is that the applicant/candidate acknowledges and agrees to be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and on occasion will require work during week-ends and holidays Work effectively in team environment and provide support and assistance Expected to perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Maritime or maintenance experience preferred. Oil spill response experience is a plus. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Possess or obtain a Passport, and Transportation Worker Identifcation Credential (TWIC). Successful completion of a 40 Hour HAZWOPER training course. Ability to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and to respond within 2 hours. Travel as required by business need. Participate in MSRC’s Drug and Alcohol Program and Medical Surveillance Program.
