The Principal Vegetation Program manager is responsiblefor managing high visibility program(s) within vegetation management to achievesignificant reliability benefits and financial deliverables.  Thisincludes managing the program strategy and direction as well as work executionand financial reporting, and coordination with internal stakeholders, externalstakeholders, residential customers, and contractors to achieve programresults. 

Develop, manage, and evaluate high profile, complexprojects/programs/initiatives involving multiple organizations from planning topost implementation phases as required.  Developbusiness plans, project charters and performance metrics in support of businessobjectives.  Ensure organizationalalignment with management models and principles and drive the integration ofbest practices.  Track and report progress on key businessinitiatives.  Manage quality assuranceand/or change management activities involving internal and external personnel.  This position will maintain an on-goinginterface with various Exelon organizations in areas such as the execution ofbusiness processes, strategic initiatives, and management model implementation.

Positionmay be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during stormsor other energy delivery emergencies.


  • Direct development and lead teams on strategicbusiness initiatives, projects, and programs. Lead requirements analysis, performance measurement, and/or qualityassurance.  Manage scope, schedule, andbudget for strategic high profile, complex organizational projects andprograms.
  • Manage and report on process/project/initiativeassignments.  Develop performanceindicators and tracking mechanisms to monitor and report results.  Oversee, prepare, review, and analyze reportsand controls for strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Develop work plans to implement correctiveactions that are identified as a result of performance assessment. 
  • Oversee the establishment of business plans andobjectives across multiple areas / departments. Lead stakeholders in the development of business cases andprioritization of deliverables. 
  • Lead change management activities for projects,programs, and initiatives.  Develop andimplement training of employees and external personnel for new processes andprocedures.  Develop and implementeffective business readiness procedures.
  • Drive the integration of best practices withinthe organization.  Investigate bestpractices through benchmarking, and develop and execute work plans to supportthe integration of the functions and best practices identified.  Maintainon-going interface with various Exelon organizations regarding the execution ofbusiness processes, strategic initiatives, and management model.



  • Bachelor’s degree in S.T.E.M./ business related discipline with a minimum of 8-10 years relevantexperience.
  • Advanced vegetation management knowledge andunderstanding of applicable standards, methods, processes and practices,business fundamentals, and performance metrics in the specific functional areasupported by this position (e.g., electric or gas operations, customer service,transmission and substation, distribution system operations, regulatory andexternal affairs).
  • Advancedproficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Project, Visio,Excel, & PowerPoint), and relevant specialized business applications (e.g.,project portfolio management, requirements/test management, CIS/CRM, customerself-service, telephony, EPS, EAM, work management, & outage management) tosupport business needs.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and ability tocreate value with advanced problem solving, financial/analytical, performancemanagement, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functionalteam.  Demonstrated ability to buildconsensus, establish trust, meet critical deadlines, communicate effectively,and foster culture change.
  • Preferred customer experience focus with demonstratedexcellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with people of all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implementprocess enhancements and efficiencies including new technology
  • Ability to lead storm / incident response
  • Advance knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatoryand environmental compliance; consulting with legal and regulatory internal/externalstakeholders
  • MBA or Master’s degree in a business orS.T.E.M. field
  • Certificationas :Certified Associate in Project Mgmt (CAPM) OR Project Management Professional(PMP) OR Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Demonstratedknowledge of vegetation management strategic planning and execution. (InternationalSociety of Arboriculture Certified Arborist Certification within 1 year ofemployment) (InternationalSociety of Arboriculture Certification (Utility Specialist) preferred.) OR (StateForester License or ability to obtain if available in state.)
  • Advancedknowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of project management.  Ability to analyze complex business processesand systems, interpret and recommend alternative courses of action, andimplement intervention strategies to attain performance targets.
  • Expert analytical skills for project evaluationincluding analysis of complex projects with economic, financial, risk anddecision analysis.  Proficient inbusiness case development and ability to effectively present business cases tobusiness unit leadership.


This is an individual contributor position that works independentlywith little or no supervision.  Theposition requires integration of business knowledge and functional prioritiesto address complex problems and non-standard situations.  The position regularly mentors lessexperienced colleagues.

Direct impact on budget is substantial – This position has a directimpact on the Company’s performance regarding several key indicators –operational costs, System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI),Customer Average Interruption Duration Index (CAIDI) and Customer Satisfaction– by managingscope, budget and schedule to within approved parameters, and providingstructured and detailed reports to the appropriate Management team.  Drivesthe development of strategic and reliability projects/programs/initiatives toensure complete and successful implementation. Develops and tracks key milestones. Cost of failure would have a significant impact on Exelon reliabilityand financial goals.

This position is also key to maintaining the company’s image and goodstanding with customers, regulators, and shareholders in regard to developingcoordinating, and implementing high value strategic projects/programs/initiativesthat have a direct link to either customer experience, reliability, or thebottom line results of the organization.


This position requires interfacing across Exelon Corporation withvarious levels of personnel in Customer Operations, IT, Regional Operations, DistributionOperations, Transmission Operations, Corporate Security, Communications,Regulatory, and Legal, as well as with external organizations such as PJM, governmentalagencies, industry associations, municipalities, and other utilities.  The ability to influence and buildrelationships across the organization, into the work force, and among theleadership team is critical.  Positionwill serve as a change agent in the organization.

Will regularly serve as lead for cross-functional and cross company teamsresponsible for the integration of best practices through the organization.  Oversees the establishment of business plansand objectives for multiple areas / departments.  Develops performance indicators and trackingmechanisms to monitor results.
