Overview

Aerojet Rocketdyne Coleman Aerospace in Orlando, FL is seeking an Aerospace or Electrical Engineer to join the Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) Systems team.

At this location, we produce high complexity (low volume) One, Two and Three stage target missiles. In this role, the Engineer may work tasks related to modeling and simulation, flight controls, trajectory development, and autopilot analysis. Candidate must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

This position is for an individual with experience in navigation systems, flight controls, guidance routines, and six degree-of-freedom (6DOF) simulations. The candidate will be joining a team of GNC Engineers to assist with (1) developing and analyzing missile trajectories using 6DOF simulations, (2) additional modeling and simulation updates, (3) autopilot design and analysis, and (4) real-time and post-test data review in support of System Level testing and mission activities. The small team atmosphere provided by AR Coleman Aerospace demands the capability to devise simple solutions to complex engineering problems both independently, and by soliciting inputs from other technical subject matter experts.

35% - Modeling and Simulation updates.

35% - Trajectory tuning and development.

20% - Data review support of System Level testing.

10% - Autopilot design and analysis.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Electrical Engineering (or similar discipline) and at least 2 years of professional experience with GNC or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Additional Requirements:

  • US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

  • Prior experience with 6DOF simulation of aerospace vehicles.

  • Experience/Coursework related to the guidance and control of dynamic vehicles
  • Ability to program in C/C++ and use MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Working with Systems Engineering disciplines and related activities (e.g., requirements traceability & verification).
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills to include report writing, requirements and documentation, as well as design review presentations.
  • Must have the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • This position may require overtime and travel as required to meet critical schedule milestones.
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • M.S. or greater in Aerospace or Electrical Engineering (or similar discipline).
  • Prior GNC experience in ballistic missiles.
  • Experience with programming in C, C++, and Fortran and using MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Ability to work under Windows and Linux environments.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
