Community Operations' focus is on supporting our users through both direct support interactions as well as scalable solutions, and on improving the health of our products by helping people understand how to use them. The Safety team within Community Operations strives to create a safe atmosphere for the Facebook and Instagram communities through outstanding support, education, and care for the various people around the world who use our platforms. We pride ourselves in helping prevent online and real-world harm by building fast, scalable support systems to address safety-related incidents on our products, and by influencing others to collaborate on cross-functional initiatives.

As a Data Analyst at Facebook Safety, you will be directly responsible for ensuring that we effectively identify and remove disruptive content and users as quickly as possible and deeply understand issues that impact our communities globally

Required Skills:

  1. Develop an understanding of safety issues and their architecture and conduct data analyses to scope policy issues and quantify their impact.

  2. Manage and prioratise analytical deep dives (metric and dashboard development, data prototyping, insights generation and recommendations) on the effectiveness of policies and operations throughout our ecosystem.

  3. Liaise with Ops, Engineering, Data Science and Policy teams to provide solutions to technical problems and emerging challenges using a well thought, methodical, data-driven approach and prioritization.

  4. Develop and lead global projects, establish working team goals, and work with team members and leaders across the organization on strategies for executing, measuring progress, and sharing results

  5. Deliver projects involving quantitative analysis, industry research, and strategy development, working directly with global cross-functional teams

  6. Track and analyze key operational metrics to understand the investigations ecosystem and help determine where to focus optimization efforts

  7. Use data mining and statistical techniques to drive key projects like identifying causes, evaluating performance, forecasting, etc.

  8. Help create policies and machine learning algorithms to solve complex business problems and ensure the safety of the community

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BA/BS degree in an analytical field (Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations research Economics, etc) or equivalent practical experience.

  2. 5 years of experience working with data sets and knowledge of relational databases

  3. Experience working with SQL, SAS, R and Python.

  4. Self-starting, intellectually curious and creative individual comfortable operating in ambiguity - able to lead complex project with minimal guidance.

  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to communicate affectively to different audiences.

  6. Ability to communicate the results of analysis and insights to cross functional teams and influence the strategy of those teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master's or other advanced degree in engineering or technical/scientific field of study or equivalent practical experience.

  2. Experience at a leading management consulting firm or corporate strategy team for a technology firm (software, internet and/or media industry).

  3. Familiarity with internet policy and regulatory environments.

  4. Demonstrated ability to present data sets in a clear and compelling manner that inspires action.
