Facebook's global network, comprised of cutting-edge platforms, is looking for an Inside Plant (ISP) Engineer to join the Backbone Engineering team. This team is responsible for designing, implementing and supporting one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated optical fiber networks.
As an ISP engineer, you will have the unique opportunity to shape Facebook's production fiber network and connectivity projects in developing world markets. The role requires an in depth understanding of Critical Systems and Inside Plant Infrastructure, in the transport network space.
Perform Power Design for facilities (ILA Hut and POP) including AC Power, DC Power, Batteries, Generator, Switchgear, Rectifiers, Inverters and UPS.
Perform air flow design for new locations and optimize for existing locations.
Design and implement sensors and controllers for the various systems.
Build facility operations systems for the NOC, with special focus on automating the day-to-day activities.
Create a troubleshooting toolkit to remotely monitor ILA facilities.
Create a field operations guide for preventive maintenances and break-fix of the critical systems.
Customization of ILA design based on route including analysis of Prefabricated Hut design vs. Site build out.
Manage fiber entry points at the site and fiber distribution inside the ILA.
Implement, follow and audit all applicable safety codes.
Ensure compliance with quality control programs for inside plant operations and consistent operational procedures.
Implementation of systems and processes for Joint Use Cage Area or Collocation space.
Provide engineering operational support and direction for new or existing technologies and current operational initiatives.
10+ years Inside Plant and Critical Systems Engineering experience in the Optical Transport network or Data Center space.
Knowledge of HVAC and power distribution systems.
Knowledge of Analog Transmission Line Theory, electronic theory, Fiber Optic theory, National Electric Code and National Electric Safety Code.
Knowledge of Federal Communications Commission regulations.
Bachelor's degree or greater in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
In depth knowledge of various vendor products and services in the critical infrastructure space.
Advanced knowledge of all FCC compliance reports and other rules and regulations.
Comprehensive understanding of applicable local and state rules and regulations in addition to OSHA rules and regulations, on both federal and state level.
