We’re the team that’s responsible for managing reports surrounding Facebook’s policies and procedures, complex legal issues and the changing landscape of free speech on the Internet. We are passionate about building trust and giving a voice to the most people. We mitigate legal risk and make the world more open and connected while scaling our operations to support Facebook’s 1.8 billion users. As a member of the Contractual Rights team, you'll play a key role in innovating, improving and handling legal matters efficiently and quickly to ensure that Facebook meets its obligations in music contractual agreements. You'll use data-driven techniques, industry-leading workforce management, advanced process improvement and legal and policy expertise to ensure that we comply with Facebook's obligations and strengthen our strategic partnerships. This team touches a wide array of Facebook's Legal, Media, and Music ecosystem and has a diverse group of stakeholders across the team and company.
We are seeking someone to help lead the strategic direction of the team in support of our music licenses and contractual obligations, while also growing the skills and professional development of individuals on the team. This role will be heavily focused on building and strengthening relationships, influencing product and tools strategy, and empowering performance of individual contributors. This role requires both strong analytical and project management skills, and the ability to lead and mentor others. Candidates will be self-motivated, data-oriented, and flexible to frequent changes and collaboration. This is a full-time position located in Austin, Texas.
Lead a team of people to develop business strategy and support music contractual obligations, prioritizing efficiency and global scalability
Develop a deep expertise in legal aspects of Facebook’s rights management products, licensing, and music licensing agreements, to effectively advocate for product improvements, support escalations, partner needs, and user experiences
Identify trends and develop solutions to optimize team workflows, introduce new processes, and improve partner and user experiences
Support Facebook’s business development team in executing contractual obligations as part of our music licensing strategy across labels, publishers, and PROs
Use data-driven strategies and well defined metrics to measure the team's success and goals around user experience and operational efficiency
Partner closely with cross-functional teams to organize, motivate, and develop a team focusing on maximizing individual strengths and skills
Leverage skills across cross-functional legal, operations, and policy teams to move roadblocks and empower individuals to deliver results on initiatives that drive goals forward while mitigating competing incentives and risk
Willingness to travel
B.A. or B.S. degree or higher
5+ years of experience in end-to-end project management, product, business strategy, and/or operations
1+ years experience managing people
Experience in the field of intellectual property, music/video licensing, or digital rights management
Demonstrated track record of disciplined execution, acting independently across competing priorities and exercising judgment
