Facebook Research Scientist, Computer Vision and Tracking in Redmond, Washington

Summary:

Oculus is a world leader in the design of virtual reality systems. We are currently seeking innovative researchers with a passion for technology to develop next generation hand and interaction tracking in our research location in Redmond, WA. The focus of this role is on computer vision, machine learning, and sensor fusion with the primary responsibility being tracking and reconstruction of hands. The position requires a PhD in computer science, robotics, computer engineering, or similar areas, and a strong background in modeling, analysis, and system building.

Required Skills:

  1. Plan and execute cutting-edge research to advance real-time hand tracking from various sensors

  2. Collaborate with other researchers, engineers, and 3D artists to prototype hardware and software solution, experiments and concepts that advance the entire project

  3. Mentor MS/PhD interns and collaborate with external academic groups to advance our research goals

Experience:

  1. PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or related technical field

  2. 4+ years designing and developing Computer Vision technology

  3. 3+ years of experience engineering in C++, including systematic evaluation design

  4. 2+ years experience developing machine learning, Bayesian filtering, information theory, and 3D geometry algorithms

  5. Proficiency with convolutional neural networks and recurrent neural networks

  6. Experience in mathematical optimization, including software libraries and implementation from first principles

  7. Excellent interpersonal skills - cross-group and cross-culture collaboration

  8. Proven track record of achieving significant results

  9. Experience with real-time systems preferable

  10. Ability to obtain work authorization in the United States in 2016
