Facebook News Analyst, Media Partnerships in New York, New York

Facebook is seeking an experienced strategic analyst to develop and activate insights about how people find and consume digital news content. The strategic analyst will develop and implement key strategic initiatives, from building tools, to measuring engagement around major events, to understanding the impact of conversations by global influencers, to understanding engagement around specific content verticals (e.g., News, Sports) on Facebook and Instagram. The role will report into our Media Research Manager and is based at the Facebook office in New York.

Required Skills:

  1. Develop research and measurement strategy and manage prioritization of initiatives across internal and external stakeholders

  2. Work closely with other analysts on the Media Partnerships Research team to understand how major media publishers, influencers, and public figures are using Facebook and Instagram to connect and share with people around the world

  3. Develop a robust internal network of coworkers working on a variety of related initiatives and become an internal go-to expert on how and why mass audiences find and consume content on Facebook

  4. Identify trends and actionable insights to drive strategic partnerships and industry communications

  5. Synthesize a wide variety of inputs from different stakeholders into coherent narratives and action plans

  6. Work with global team to scale programs and drive adoption across priority markets

  7. Be an internal advocate with cross-functional teams —including product, product marketing, engineering, and communications— for partners and industry priorities

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BA or BS degree

  2. 6+ years of experience as a consultative partner or project manager

    1. Experience analyzing editorial or business performance at a news organization, digital publisher, or social measurement company

    2. Track record of initiating opportunities for the business and drive business results

    3. Ability to work cross-functionally with all levels of management, both internally and externally

    4. Project management experience

    5. Ability to make recommendations and action plans

    6. Advanced Excel skills for analyzing and visualizing data

    7. Experience developing stories and recommendations using data

    8. Ability to present to groups and speak at conferences

    9. Knowledge of the news industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of Hive, SQL, Tableau, a programming language, or related tools
