The Public Policy Coordinator will be helping connect with the Mexican government and policymakers and will work closely with the Public Policy team in LATAM and globally. The position will be based in Mexico City and will be responsible for articulating our mission to make the world more open and connected. Successful applicants will become part of a team that is dealing with some of the most interesting public policy challenges of our times including privacy, safety, freedom of expression, the impact of the Internet on established business models, and new opportunities for public service delivery.

Required Skills:

  1. Conduct analysis of bills and proposed regulation on innovation, privacy, freedom of expression, telecommunications, connectivity and related issues

  2. Create and support the implementation of safety programs in partnership with internal and external stakeholders

  3. Support outreach to policymakers, non-profit organizations, and other entities

  4. Support the activities of Facebook’s policy team, including drafting official responses

  5. preparing briefing materials, interact with internal and external stakeholders to explain Facebook’s policies

  6. Coordinate special policy projects

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 3-5 years of professional experience

  2. Bachelor degree in law, communications, journalism, political science, public policy, business, international relations, or equivalent. Masters degree preferred

  3. Previous work in Internet and telecommunications regulation, political analysis, intellectual property, privacy in law firms preferred

  4. Demonstrated interest in the intersection of politics, public policy, and technology

  5. Exemplary verbal and written communication skills in English

  6. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time efficiently and to learn quickly in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

  7. Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully and independently

  8. Experience in the Internet technology industry a plus
