Facebook System Software Engineer, Intern (Embedded) in Menlo Park, California

Facebook is seeking a System Software Engineer Intern for Embedded Controller to join our Server Design Team. Our servers and data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently operates and upon which our innovative services are delivered. The co-op will work closely with system software engineers in the team to develop software on embedded controller to support server management features for new server hardware topologies. This position is located in our Menlo Park office.

Required Skills:

  1. Understand server system architecture and server management software/firmware implementation, by studying code and discussing with related engineers.

  2. Create and modify code on current software base to support new hardware platform/features.

  3. Create and modify device drivers to interface with management controller under Linux.

  4. Work with team to bring up embedded controller and test firmware functionality

  5. Create test suites for production and validation to stress firmware for reliability stability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Pursuing computer engineering related degree

  2. Strong coding ability with C/C++

  3. Strong scripting capability with php, python or perl.

  4. Strong trouble shooting and analytical skills

    1. Excellent written and verbal communications skills

    2. Familiar with Linux kernel and device driver model is a plus

    3. Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization in the United States in 2017.
