Summary:
Facebook is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for Storage to join our Storage Design Team. Our storage platforms are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently operates and upon which our innovative services are delivered. The co-op will work closely with software engineers in the team to develop software that enables our hard drive as well as flash based storage platforms. This position is located in our Menlo Park office.

Required Skills:

  1. Understand Facebook hyper-scale storage architectures that support a wide range of frontend and backend applications.

  2. Learn the leading edge storage technologies as well as storage network protocols.

  3. Implement new and/or extend existing software to support new storage hardware platform/features.

  4. Perform system-level performance evaluations, propose ideas on how to improve them and implement some of them.

  5. Document ideas, findings and results as part of the internship.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Pursuing a degree in hardware, electrical, or computer engineering

  2. Strong analytic and problem solving skills

  3. Strong coding ability with C/C++

  4. Strong scripting capability with php, python or perl.

    1. Excellent written and verbal communications skills

    2. Familiar with Linux kernel and device driver model is a plus

    3. Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization in the United States in 2017
