Facebook Sourcing Manager - LATAM in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

The Sourcing Manager is responsible for the procurement of domestic and international long haul network services and assets for Facebook’s global backbone network. Sourcing activities will include identification of supply in the market; developing sourcing strategies for new backbone assets; generating requirement documents, and evaluation criteria; working with Backbone Planning and Engineering teams to develop technical specifications and conducting due diligence on potential suppliers. Sourcing activities will cover the LATAM region.  In addition, Sourcing Manager will develop business case analysis for new investments, and lead negotiations of commercial terms and work with legal and finance teams for timely execution of supplier contracts.

Required Skills:

  1. Manages a portfolio of supplier contracts in the assigned geographic region. Including executing new contracts, capacity orders, changes and decommissions

  2. Manages the performance of the suppliers and tracks and ensures their compliance to the terms and conditions of the contracts. Renegotiates contract terms as needed. 

  3. Keeps abreast of technological and commercial developments in the telecom markets. 

  4. Engages new suppliers as needed. Negotiates commercial terms, and works with the legal, finance and engineering teams for timely executions of contracts and Master Service Agreements. 

  5. Works closely with engineering and planning teams to generate RFP/RFQ and requirements documents. 

  6. Works closely with finance, to develop business plans, budgets, and long-range plans. 

  7. Evaluates supplier offers. Generates clear and objective analysis and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BA/BS or equivalent in technical or business related field with at least 7 years of relevant experience.

  2. Experience in Sourcing Management or Carrier Relations in long haul network products and services.

  3. Willing to travel within the LATAM region

  4. Business and technical experience in networking, particularly in transport, optical and fiber technologies.

  5. Able to prepare and present quantitative and qualitative comparative analysis of sourcing alternatives and business plans.

  6. Prior work experience in procurement or sale of dark fiber, or lit capacity services.

  7. Fluent in Spanish or Portuguese.
