Facebook Software Engineer, PhD Intern/Co-op (Depth Sensing) in Menlo Park, California
Great virtual reality technology depends on advances in computer vision and machine learning. As an intern at Oculus, you will be involved in developing innovative techniques for understanding the VR scenery around the user, segmenting objects and extracting non-rigid 3D models in real time. You will be part of a dynamic team with exposure to a wide range of disciplines. The ideal candidate is pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field and is passionate about enhancing the user experience in virtual reality.
Our internships are twelve (12) weeks. We have various start dates throughout the year.
Participate in cutting edge computer vision research to expand the depth sensing abilities in field of view, resolution and latency.
Develop algorithms in the product software branch including architecture and design considerations.
Collaborate with the optical lab, sensor development teams, and other engineers across various disciplines
Communicate your research project agenda and results
Pursuing a PhD in the field of Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
Must be currently enrolled in a full time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship
2+ years experience with systems building in C++
Excellent interpersonal skills, cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
High levels of creativity and quick problem solving capabilities
Proven track record of achieving significant results
Ability to obtain work authorization in the United States in 2017
Demonstrated software engineer experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or PhD papers
Experience with image processing, computer vision, graphs, computational geometry
